I had heard about this novel while I was taking social study eleven, the title of the novel attracts me when I first seen it as I already known its a story related to politics. I was pretty curious about how an animal personification story can go with politics and decide to borrow one from VPL and go through it once.
The novel "Animal Farm" was written by George Orwell, and I had read his novel "1984" before, to be honest when I first seen this man's name the first thing I thought was :" Umm, Don't tell me it's another depressing story with a sad ending that even the main character falls." Anyways turns out maybe my predict comes true, but still, I finished the book. Comparing to "1984" it isn't that depressing and the story is more interesting than "1984", maybe the ending can still be considered as a sad ending but if we let the story goes on it will changes. The story "Animal Farm" mainly talks about animals in a farm follows their leader - a pig called Snow Ball and successfully kicked the owner of the farm out and forming an animal society, in the beginning when Snow Ball was in power the farm went well, every animals were equal, no one kills each other. However one day Snow Ball was being kicked out from the farm by another pig - Napoleon by using violence. Since then the equality doesn't exists with the time pass by. First the law was being changed to "no animals should kill other animals without reason", and Napoleon used this law to murdered some animal who didn't obey his order. Later on in the story there are laws like "no animals should sleep on beds" being violated by Napoleon and other pigs. And the law "all animals are equal" was being changed to "all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others" In the end, Napoleon and other pigs were being described as they were same as human, which means the only difference between the farm ruled by Napoleon and the farm ruled by the owner was the owner changed but nothing more. "Animal Farm" is based on Stalin, which is the real version of Napoleon the pig, who uses violence and spy even on his own people, which is represented by dogs in the story. As we know Stalin was a communist, it shows us the leader of a communist party will always take the whole control if they want In the country. It's dangerous to even disobey bad laws which everyone think so. In the story, Napoleon falsified the information and said that Snow Ball was a traitor in order to find a reason to kick Snow Ball out |
